The Clinical Efficacy of Lomefloxacin(Maxaquin(r)) in the Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections

Abstract

|
Lomefloxacin(Maxaquin(r)) is a new difluorinated quinolone that Combines excellent pharmacokinetic characteristics with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. The efficacy and safety of lomefloxacin were evaluated in the patients with simple and complicated urinary tract infections(UTI). A total of 31 patients were treated with 400mg of lomefloxachin orally once-daily for 7-14 days. @ES The results obtained-were as follows: @EN 1. Eradication of intial pathogen was noted in 85.7% and 64.7% of patients with simple and complicated UTI, respectiely. 2. Clinical success occurred in 92.9% and 82.4% of patients with, simple and complicated UTI, respectiely. 3. There was no serious adverse events.
The results of this study show that once-daily administration of 400mg lomefloxacin is safe and effective clinically and bacteriologically in the treatment of urinary tract infection.
